MANILA, PHILIPPINES- On Monday night, Aegis Malaysia says sorry for uploading an ad that disparaged the Philippines.
BPO, the global business process outsourcing company deeply regrets the release of the video. It is said that it was not approved by the company.
The company, which belongs to Indian multinational conglomerate Essar group, stated that since the acquisition of People Support in 2008, the Philippines had served as a catalyst for the growth of Aegis.
They said in a statement posted in social media accounts that they would like to articulate that the company—Aegis—had a wonderful experience in the country, which, according to them, has great clients, great leadership and all above the rest, great employees.
Aegis Malaysia once again said that they regret the recent upload of the video on Malaysia. The video was supposedly, developed locally by an agency. It was uploaded by mistake and the said contents weren’t approved by Aegis Corporate.
“We apologize and regret any communication that may have inadvertently hurt any sentiments,” the company stated.
In Kuala Lumpur, the Philippine embassy there asked Aegis Malaysia earlier to explain the disparaging video that showed business situations and disasters in the Philippines.
The embassy expressed deep concern in its letter to Aegis Malaysia on the matter since the country the country considered Malaysian firms to be its active partner in bolstering bilateral connections between the two nations.
The embassy said that it wants to know the reason why the video was released and what would the company’s steps undertake in order to address the issue.
The video, reaching nearly three minutes, explains why Malaysia is a better choice for investors if compared to the Philippines. The latter, on the other hand, is described in the same video as a disaster-prone area that has inadequate infrastructure, among issues.
Although the firm has already pulled out the video, it could still be watched on some sites.
The business environment in the country has continued to improve as the Philippine embassy assured potential investors to the country.
It is said that it is even encouraging that a number of foreign investors choose to come to the Philippines, in particular, the BPO sector. They are “the brand ambassadors” for the country, it is said.
